VINTAGE & WINEMAKING
The 2023 growing season delivered ideal conditions for growing premium Chardonnay in the Mount Barker region. There was good rainfall over winter. Spring was reasonably dry, and summer held slightly cooler temperatures which allowed for the fruit flavours to develop slowly while still retaining great natural acidity.
The fruit was night-harvested, gently pressed, and fermented in stainless steel with a portion in French oak. Using selected yeast at 15–25°C, the wine rested on lees with regular stirring. Blended parcels created a complex, elegant Chardonnay balancing bright fruit and savoury depth.
RIESLING
2021
VINTAGE & WINEMAKING
The 2021 season brought above average winter rainfall and a dry, mild summer, perfect for ripening Riesling with vibrant acidity and fine tannins. Handpicked fruit was quickly destemmed, crushed, and pressed to preserve freshness. The clear juice was racked to tank and cool fermented with a champagne yeast strain to enhance purity and aroma. Post ferment, the wine rested on lees for three months to develop texture and complexity before racking, fining, stabilisation, and bottling. The result is a bright, well-structured Riesling with freshness, finesse, and impressive flavour clarity.
THE WINE
Pale straw in colour, this wine offers aromas of lemon blossom, citrus leaf, lanolin, and flinty notes. The palate is intense and citrus-driven, with fine phenolics and a crisp, acid led finish. With age, it has gained palate weight and greater harmony between tannin and acidity.
